Systems of Equations

Inconsistent lines:

*Are parallel lines with the same slope, different Y-intercepts.

*They have No Solutions.

Ex: y = 2x + 1
      y = 2x - 4

Consistent and Dependent lines:
*They are two lines overlapping one another.

*They have the same slopes, same Y-intercepts.

*These lines have All #'s

Ex: x + 2y =5
     7x + 14y = 35

Consistent and Independent lines:

*They have different slopes.

* They have only have 1solution.

Ex: 3x + 4y = 5
      2x - 5y = 8
